Actually, there is no cure for alcoholism, however, alcohol abuse treatments can help a person to stop himself from abusing these alcoholic drinks, and to regain his health.

Alcohol abuse treatments can be provided depending on the kind of treatment that the person needs and depending on the availability of the resources in the community. The patient may be treated in or outside the hospital, depending on the severity of his case. Programs included in the treatment are detoxification, which will safely remove the alcohol from the system of the person; medications, which can help to avoid relapse; counseling, either individual or group reinforcement and advice; support groups; and referral to other resources within the community.

Among the recommended alcohol abuse treatments, the organized support group is the most commonly used and  efficient method to fight this social and health problem. A sound advice and full support for families from health care providers may ease the pain caused by alcoholism.
